This year, I graduate from someone who did something — to someone who does something.

I’m currently six weeks out from the Toronto Natural Pro Qualifier, where I’ll be battling it out with some of the best natural Men’s Physique athletes in Canada. I’ve been training for this moment since October. The light at the end of the tunnel is finally visible — but instead of clarity, it brings more questions. Namely: what’s next?

This prep has felt very different from last year. For one, the challenge is steeper. I’ve chosen to go straight to the national level for a single show. That means no warm-up, no second chance — just one shot at a highly competitive lineup, where even placing is a serious accomplishment.

As my coach Axel reminded me recently, the only opponent that truly matters is the man I was before. That mindset grounds me — a reminder to meet whatever happens with gratitude.

Because truthfully, just having the resources, health, and support to work this hard toward my peak physique is an incredible privilege. Many people don’t get the opportunity to chase their physical potential this way. Acknowledging that doesn’t diminish the effort — it makes it more meaningful.

While my training has remained consistent, my mindset has expanded — and so has my enthusiasm. The tiny little run club I started in 2024, is not so tiny anymore. Hull Sunday Run Day now brings out 30 to 40 runners every Sunday. We’ve started hosting events, building partnerships, selling merch, and growing a community that continues to inspire me. I’ll say it: the kind of people that public athletics can bring together? Chef’s kiss.

My love for running rivals my adoration for bodybuilding. Last year I ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 3:19. This year, I crossed the finish line of the Ottawa Race Weekend Half in just over 1:30. And while those numbers are respectable, they’ve all been achieved under the strict dietary and physical limitations of bodybuilding prep.

I can’t help but wonder: what would happen if I could actually carb-load for a race?

One thing at a time.

As my athletic pursuits broaden, so has the precision of my coaching. My personal experience in both weight training and endurance has made me a stronger hybrid coach — and that’s the lane I intend to own. It’s already transformed the lives of my clients. I believe it’ll shape the next chapter of my own.

I’ve come to realize that every chapter of my journey — chosen or not — has prepared me for what comes next. And if you’re reading this, I hope you find the same clarity and glorious sense of purpose I’ve been blessed with.

Much love — and see you on the other side.
